Jewelry Care
JOS jewelry is created to be worn, lived in, and kept.Thoughtful care will help preserve the finish, structure, and character of your piece for years to come.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally reacts with air, moisture, skin, and the surrounding environment. Over time, this may result in a subtle patina or darkening of the surface.
This is a natural characteristic of sterling silver and does not indicate damage to the piece.
To preserve the original finish of your JOS jewelry:
- Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place when it is not being worn.
- Keep pieces separated to help prevent scratching.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to water, humidity, perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, household cleaners, chlorine, and other chemicals.
- Remove jewelry before swimming, bathing, exercising, or using cleaning products.
- Handle pieces with clean, dry hands whenever possible.
Cleaning Sterling Silver
For routine care, gently wipe your piece with a soft, non-abrasive jewelry polishing cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, brushes, paper towels, or household polishing products, as these may scratch or alter the finish of the jewelry.
Certain JOS pieces may feature intentional textures, finishes, or intricate details. If you are unsure how to clean a particular design, please contact Client Services before using any cleaning product.
Gold & Platinum
Gold and platinum jewelry should also be stored individually to help protect the surface from scratches and unnecessary contact with other pieces.
Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth for light cleaning and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive products.
Additional care recommendations may be provided with future gold and platinum collections.
Gemstones & Pavé
Pieces featuring gemstones or pavé settings should be handled with additional care.
Avoid impact against hard surfaces and remove jewelry before activities that may place pressure on the setting.
Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning methods unless they have been specifically recommended for your JOS piece.
Storage
When not being worn, we recommend storing your jewelry individually in its original JOS packaging or another soft, dry jewelry pouch or compartment.
Keeping pieces separated helps protect polished surfaces, sculptural details, and gemstone settings.
Professional Care
Over time, jewelry may benefit from professional cleaning, polishing, inspection, or maintenance.
If your piece requires additional care, repair, or evaluation, please contact JOS Client Services at [email address].
Our team will be happy to advise you on the appropriate care for your piece.
A Note on Wear
Fine jewelry is meant to be worn.
Small changes to the surface of a piece may naturally occur through everyday wear and become part of its character over time. With thoughtful care, your JOS jewelry is designed to remain a lasting part of your collection.
